Fit Milwaukee would like to welcome guest writer Kheenan Halvorson who maintains his own blog over at UFF-DA. Kheenan’s first post will kick off a new series of mobile app reviews to appear here every Wednesday.

Functionality
Lose It is a fitness/weight management app made easy on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Would like to see reviews of Livestrong, iFitness, and other Fitness tracking apps.
Thank you for the comment. We will be reviewing a number of apps over the course of this series, and have added your suggestions to the list of apps to be reviewed.
Try #2! (It got stuck ‘saving’ last time)
I have the Lose It app on my iPod Touch, and I really like it… when I remember to carry my iPod around with me during the day.
The lastest version of Lose It also has connectivity to their website, where it will upload the data that you put in the app. It will send you weekly updates as to how you’re doing. Helpful info for the data-obsessed!
I have used this app for more than a year. The consistently high ratings are a sign of how crummy the similar apps are – not how great this one is. There were so many other great apps for the old Palm.
The biggest gripe I have with this one is that so many of the foods have undefinable portion sizes – so exactly how big is a “slice” of pie? a slice of ham? a “piece” of candy. I have reduced my daily goal by 25% JUST to account for issues like this. Also – they very rarely up-date the food database – like twice in a year.
It IS easy to use but not great. The others are just really horrible.
There was a lot to review with this app. It had many updates since I had last used it. If I wanted to put everything in here it would have been like 2 pages. I do agree with you Kristine that the portion size issue is another main problem. Hopefully in the near future they add that to their food options. Thanks everyone for commenting, hope you all like it.
