The Lakefront Marathon is officially full for the season. But whether you are running the Lakefront marathon or another marathon, or not running a marathon at all, you can come down and join the Badgerland Striders‘ Saturday morning buildup runs. You can run with the group whether you are a member or not; all that is asked is a small donation to help with the cost of putting on these very informal group runs. There are usually about 100 runners or so that participate each week.
I ran with the Striders for nearly every buildup last year and it was an awesome way to get to know the running community and meet other runners that are at my own pace. In fact, Tracey and I got to know each other through the buildups last year! I found the the experience was almost as rewarding as the marathon itself. After each long run was finished I found myself high-fiving the people around me and even giving out sweaty congratulatory hugs!
If you are interested in running a little further each week for your long run, would like your course mapped out for you, and appreciate company and aid support out on your run, you might think about dropping by Lake Park on Saturday for the first of the buildup runs!
Dates and times are listed below, or check out the race calendar for more details.
