I spend a lot of time on fitness.
When I began my journey to get fit a few years ago, I knew that in order to be successful I needed to surround myself with exercise and a healthy lifestyle and a support system — because before that I surrounded myself with the opposite of that! I knew that if I immersed myself in an active world, I could never really lose it. I would be reminded every day what I worked for and held accountable for that new lifestyle.

Tomorrow is a new day! It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change!
Sounds familiar, right?
It can be easy to get down on ourselves when we slip up with our diet and fitness routines. Heaven knows I am FAR less than perfect when it comes to being healthy every second of every day. Nobody’s perfect. I think that once in a while we even need those days where we give our body a break and cave into our indulgences. The real test though is seeing if we’re able to pick up again the next day and keep going towards . . . → Read More: Finding Balance

Last month, we had the pleasure of visiting the One Tooth activewear clothing store at BayShore Mall.
What’s One Tooth? What does that name mean? What kind of clothing do they sell? When did the store open? Where is it?
Slow down, I’ll tell you ALL about it.
What is One Tooth?
One Tooth is an activewear clothing store. Think quality yoga and running gear, but customizable. I found out ALL of their pants will be tailored to your needs right there in the store. Mud Runs are the ‘it’ event right now! If you’re down to get down and dirty on a truly challenging and fun course, there’s another one to put on your radar for this summer: the LoziLu. This year’s event is June 9th at Crystal Ridge Ski Hill in Franklin. This is a girls-only, non-timed event!
There are 10-12 obstacles on the 3 mile course, they are as follows: Climbing, crawling, jumping, balancing, sliding, and scampering. I’m guessing we’ll be doing more than jumping over puddles, but nothing that is designed to hurt us. For example, in the FAQ it states there is NO . . . → Read More: LoziLu – Women’s Mud Run

I’m sitting on an ice pack as I write this post. Why? Well… the story is a little dramatic.
I got hit by a car yesterday. As in my actual person was hit. While out on a run.
I told you it was a little dramatic. Luckily, I wasn’t seriously hurt. After a trip to the emergency room and a few x-rays later, I came home with little more than a sore behind and a bump on my elbow. As I’ve been recovering today though, I’ve had a lot on my mind. For instance:

Wow, thanks so much to everyone who entered our contest last week! You all gave such thoughtful responses as to why you should be selected for our prize that you made it incredibly difficult to choose a winner. In the end we decided that you guys are so great that we would give away TWO half marathon entries (and even then I wish we could have chosen more!)
So first of all let’s congratulate Jerod and Hayley for winning free entries to the Summerfest Rock ‘N Sole Half marathon! Jerod is a husband and father to five kids hoping to restart his training . . . → Read More: And the Winners Are…

“We need coaches to prescribe rest rather than workload, as athletes will always overdose.” –Jureg Feldman, FACT Canada
“You need to take two full rest days immediately.”
My trainer was scolding me! I couldn’t believe I was hearing this — again. I thought to myself, I’m running less, like he asked. I’m cross-training MORE, like he said. I even have biceps from doing nearly 30 straight days of workouts! He should be impressed!
I could feel my skin getting warm. I felt ashamed of myself for not being able to do more and ‘get away with it’. He could see it on my face, yet . . . → Read More: Being Held Back: The Dilemma of Rest
