As promised, we will be geocaching this Sunday afternoon. We’ll meet at the Goerke’s Corners Park and Ride at 2pm, and will hunt for a few different caches. Dress as you would for a hike (comfortable clothes, appropriate footwear, etc) and consider bringing some small trinkets and maybe a camera. We didn’t pre-find these caches like we did last time, so have no idea what we’ll see along the way.
We will have a few GPS devices for use, but please bring any that you might have as well. Feel free to download the official Geocaching.com app for . . . → Read More: Geocaching – This Sunday

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we have two events planned for later this month. Stay tuned for more details, but for now mark your calendars!
Saturday, August 27th – Intro to Trail Running
Our initial last-minute scheduling of this event didn’t go so well, so we’ll give it another shot. This will be held at Lapham Peak (with a 7-8am start time) and will include trails to challenge all running abilities. Expect at least one Easy trail (2 miles, wide, grassy, and maybe a few rolling hills), one Intermediate trail (5.5-6.5 miles, wide, dirt/rocky, with steeper hills) and one . . . → Read More: Save the Date(s)!

What IS geocaching?
It’s an urban treasure hunt! But it doesn’t have to be in an urban area! We learned on Saturday that a geocache could be hidden at the top of a mountain or under the sea. Wherever the cache is hidden, it’s a great way to get out and explore the outdoors, and it’s a kid-friendly activity!
We met at the Wauwatosa Public Library ready to find some caches. It was raining a bit, but we were layered up and ready to hunt. We loaded up our devices with coordinates and started tracking down our first cache. (You can use a . . . → Read More: Geocaching: Urban Treasure Hunting!

Fit Milwaukee is going geocaching! Meet us at the Wauwatosa Public Library on Saturday, November 13th at 1pm for an urban treasure hunt.
We will give a quick overview of geocaching as well as a primer on GPS usage and proper geocaching ettiquette. Then, we’ll head out hunting for caches. The actual caches we’ll search for have not yet been finalized, but it’s possible that we might drive elsewhere after meeting at the library. If we do that, directions to the other location will be provided at the initial library meeting.
We will probably look for a few different caches . . . → Read More: Fit Milwaukee Event: Geocaching

If you haven’t heard of geocaching before, click here to read more about how it all works. It’s a lot of fun, enjoyed by adults and children, and can “trick” you into getting some exercise by distracting you from the hike you’re taking in search of hidden treasure. Also, stay tuned for more information about upcoming Fit Milwaukee geocaching outings, including a special event later this summer.
The Geocaching app by Groundspeak puts the information at www.geocaching.com at your fingertips, and even adds GPS location services to help you find the cache nearest you at any given time. You can locate . . . → Read More: Mobile App Review – Geocaching by Groundspeak
