The big day is coming up: the Milwaukee-area runner’s reunion that we refer to as the Icebreaker Indoor Marathon Relay! Here are a few tips to get you through the day… sort of like an FAQ from what we’ve learned in previous years.

Before the race starts you can place your belongings, warm ups, and water bottles here, and during the race it will . . . → Read More: Tips for the Icebreaker Indoor Marathon Relay

At long last Fit Milwaukee shirts are finally here so get ‘em while they’re hot! Women’s cut shirts come in baby blue cotton and men’s cut are in cotton denim blue- although feel free to sport either one! (FYI, the women’s style runs small so size up.) These tees are great for sporting around town post-workout to show everyone your commitment to being Fit in MKE. Thanks so much to Rob at First Priority Printing for making these fantastic shirts happen and to Jennie Brand for designing our awesome logo!
Tracey is wearing a size medium and Annie is modeling a large.

If you were on one of Fit Milwaukee’s marathon relay teams you may have noticed one of these nifty FitMKE logo window clings in your race bag. But even if you missed the event you can still get one! Fortunately we have a few extras that we’re looking to give away this week. The first ten people to comment below answering the following question will receive a FREE cling: “Who or what inspires you to work out on those tough days when you’d rather just stay in bed?” Stick it on your car window and show your love for Milwaukee-style fitness . . . → Read More: FitMKE Freebie!

Amy Kant, Captain
Running Since: March 2010!
Miles run per week: I typically run/walk and it varies 9-20. Due to an injury, I haven’t been doing as much lately, but I’m getting there!
Favorite Place to run: Milwaukee’s Lakefront and many trails – Oak Leaf, East Bank, etc. Oh, and I <3 Lakeshore State Park.
Proudest Running Achievement: Finishing a half marathon (Napa 2 Sonoma) in July. It was a struggle, but a truly wonderful experience. It was only my second race ever and I’m still over the moon about the experience.

Marty Burian, Captain
Running Since: A few years ago. 2005, maybe? I was never a runner, although I was active in high school. I always laugh when I see the “My sport is your sport’s punishment” shirts, because that’s exactly how I used to feel about running.
Miles Run Per Week: 25-40 usually, depending on whether I’m training for something or not.
Favorite Place to Run: At the back of a group. Along the lakefront.
Proudest Running Achievement: Completing the Couch to 5K program for the first time. It’s the first training program I had ever used, and finishing it was really the turning point . . . → Read More: Meet FitMke Indoor Marathon Relay Team #hashtags

Becky Landberg, Team Captain
Running Since: I probably started running for about 20 minutes two or three times a week consistently around May of 2009, and just stuck with it for awhile. Then I really started running just before Thanksgiving 2009 and have been going every since!
Miles run per week: Usually 20-25
Favorite Place to run: Down around Lake Michigan
Proudest Running Achievement: This is a tough one. Probably finishing the Discovery 15k a couple weeks ago without walking, but the race I was honestly most nervous for and felt the proudest of myself for finishing was my first 5k without stopping last January . . . → Read More: Meet FitMke Indoor Marathon Relay Team Mara-Tron

Months back, I was hit with the realization that I wasn’t going to be able to train for the half marathon that I had been planning for this winter. It was really hard for me to accept. Recovery had been taking longer than I had hoped, and accepting the fact that I would not be running for awhile was crushing.
My husband Augie looked at me that day and said, “If you can’t do it, then I’ll do it for you. I can’t make you better, and everyday I wish I could. I can do this, and when you are ready to . . . → Read More: Reconstructing A Beer Runner – Beer Runner By Proxy
